Atletico Madrid wants to move Lautaro Martínez away from Barcelona
Atletico Madrid wants to acquire the signing of Lautaro Martínez, one of the scorers who has been in the orbit of Barcelona for a long time.
The FC Barcelona is very conscious that this summer, save to surprise, will be impossible to concretise more incorporations. The club is forced to reduce in 50% his mass salarial to be able to inscribe to his new signings, by what do not pose (as they are the things) touch the door for tantear other reinforcements.
Lautaro Martínez is one of the players that always have been in the radar of the Barça and that it would be an injection of quality for the team, but the economic factor has moved it away (in several opportunities) to arrive to the City Condal. In front of the difficulties of the Barcelona, other teams have won 'weight' in the career by his index card and will finish achieving, this year or the next, 'snatch it' to the Inter, remembering that his agreement wins in 2023 and still has not renewed.
The Athletic of Madrid has been one of the clubs that more interest have showed, but the difficult economic situation has them 'braked' to present an offer by his index card.
In any case, 'Sportive World' aims that the Argentinian is the goleador wished by the 'Cholo' Simeone, trainer rojiblanco, but is conscious that his signing is complicated, reason by which have traced a strategic plan.
The half Catalan explains that to achieve his signing, the Atleti will have to sell to an important footballer of the staff and like this satisfy the pretences of the inter, that asks more than 60 million euros by the attacker.
However, in front of the possibility to achieve the barter with the Barcelona with Antoine Griezmann, the 'colchoneros' would park the 'option Lautaro' until the next market estival.
According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Diego Simeone has now highlighted Martinez as his No.1 attacking target ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Simeone may need to offload at least one big name player to fund a move for Martinez in the coming weeks, with Inter set to stick by their €60m asking price, despite their own financial concerns.
Walsh give West Indies 1-0 lead, And Australia lose 1 Match
West Indies fought back to secure an extraordinary victory in the opening match against Australia have been behind the game for large periods. The visitors contrived to lose their last six wickets for 19 runs against Obed McCoy and Hayden Walsh Jr having needed less than five over in the second half of the chase.
McCoy, who was impressive in the recent series against South Africa, confounded Australia's lower order with his slower-ball variations while Walsh Jr marked his recall with the key wicket of top-scorer Mitchell Marsh who looked to have put Australia on track with a maiden T20I fifty.
In the end, it was another maiden T20I half-century, from Andre Russell, which finished on the winning side as his 51 off 28 balls transformed the West Indies innings after they had labored against an inspired opening burst from Josh Hazlewood who conceded just three runs in his first three overs.
Australia surged out of the blocks in the chase with 70 on the board at the end of the powerplay and the loss of three wickets in the same period seemed a reasonable price to pay to be so far ahead of the required run rate. The decisive collapse began when Ben McDermott missed a booming drive against Walsh Jr's googly and the rest of Australia's innings did not make much sense. A small crowd of fully vaccinated supporters was left jumping for joy.
Hazlewood's powerplay perfection
There was one spot up for grabs among Australia's four specialist bowlers and it went to Hazlewood for just the 10th T20I in a career that started in 2013. He could not have put in a better display to advance his claims for a spot in the T20 World Cup squad. With his second ball, he had Evin Lewis taken at mid-on and then he tied down Chris Gayle with a maiden in his second over. That pressure told when Gayle got a top edge to point in Hazlewood's third over, by the end of which he had the astonishing figures of 3-1-3-2 - including 17 dot balls - as West Indies limped along in the fielding restrictions with Lendl Simmons 19 off 23 balls in the first six overs.
Hazlewood would return for the final over of the innings where he adjusted his length to end the thunderous display of Russell and, if it hadn't been for Dwayne Bravo sending the last ball for six, he could have finished with Australia's most economical four-over display.
Take a wicket, lose a review
After Simmons's difficult stay was ended by an outside edge in Marsh's first over, West Indies' problems were compounded by the run out of stand-in captain Nicholas Pooran - leading for the first time with Kieron Pollard injured - although there was a curious element about the dismissal.
Mitchell Starc appeal for lbw against Shimron Hetmyer, which was turned down, but Pooran couldn't get back into his crease at the non-striker's end as Josh Philippe proved very alert to the chance. However, before the run-out had been completed Aaron Finch had called for a review for the initial lbw shout so, after Pooran had been shown to be cleared out, they had to check for the lbw which was missing leg stump so Australia lost their review.
How did that happen?
Henriques continued the tone of Australia hitting the ball in the air to fielders when he drove to point, but Marsh worked his way to a composed half-century and with batting still to come, it should have been well in hand.
Walsh Jr's first over back in the side had cost ten but he returned in the 11th to remove McDermott which exposed the lower order. He then firmly opened the door for West Indies when Marsh drove a return catch and it left Australia needing Dan Christian to guide a chase home on his recall after a four-year gap.
Agar did not stay for long, McCoy grabbing a brilliant low caught and bowled, then Christian lofted Walsh Jr to long-on which meant it was over to the bowlers to try and stop the panic.
They couldn't do it with McCoy claiming the last two wickets in the space of three deliveries which gives him 13 scalps in his last five matches.
ENG vs PAK ODI NEWS
England showcase strength in depth as Saqib Mahmood blows Pakistan away
England 142 for 1 (Malan 68*, Crawley 58*) beat Pakistan 141 (Zaman 47, Mahmood 4-42) by nine wickets
England has enjoyed many impressive ODI performances in recent years: victories from the jaws of defeat; victories in locations where they used to be uncommon; victories in major global events. But, given the drama of the last few days and the challenges with which they were confronted, this win - by nine wickets with more than 28 overs to spare - may prove as satisfying as most of them. Certainly, it demonstrated England's remarkable strength in depth - in ODI cricket, at least - and resilience that bodes well for the challenges ahead.
Despite being forced to make 11 changes to the side that played against Sri Lanka only four days ago, England's second string proved more than a match for a Pakistan team that had lost only one of their 12 most recent ODIs and is currently ranked No. 3 in the World Cup Super League.
To defeat such an accomplished side by such a margin (in terms of deliveries to spare, 169, England had never inflicted such a large defeat upon Pakistan) in such circumstances can only be viewed as deeply impressive. It has been 36 years since England put out a side with so few caps (135, since you asked; Ben Stokes accounting for 99 of them and James Vince 17 more).
But after the extent of the Covid outbreak in the England camp became clear on Monday, the ECB was obliged to name an entirely new squad of players and support staff to ensure this series could go ahead. They had just one training session together before heading into this game. Ultimately, there were five new caps in the England side, the most since the ODI against Ireland in May 2015 that ended Peter Moores' tenure as coach. Top-order batters Zak Crawley and Phil Salt, wicketkeeper John Simpson, seam-bowling allrounder Lewis Gregory and fast bowler Brydon Carse all made their debuts; while Crawley and Gregory have played Test cricket and T20Is respectively, the other three had no experience of international cricket.
But it was Saqib Mahmood, who in playing his fifth ODI was the third most experienced member of the side, who made the early inroads. Bowling at a brisk pace (above 87mph/140kph at times), he hit an excellent probing length and generated just enough movement to beat or catch edges.
Imam-ul-Haq played across the first ball of the series - Simpson, England's new keeper, and Stokes, their new captain, vindicated in calling for a review - with Babar Azam following two balls later. By the time Mahmood went round the wicket and trapped left-handed debutant Saud Shakeel with one that nipped in, Pakistan was 26 for 4. It was a passage of play that effectively defined the game. Mahmood was later, quite rightly, named as the player of the match.
Amid England's chaos, it might be overlooked that Pakistan hadn't enjoyed perfect preparation, either. They had been limited to intra-squad warm-up matches and were, perhaps, unfortunate enough to find themselves batting first on a surface offering just a fraction of seam movement.
So, while the scorecard may look ugly, you might spare a thought for Azam, who received an excellent ball that was angled in and forced a stroke only to then leave him a fraction to take the edge. Mohammad Rizwan, who also received a beauty which was angled in and left him, could also be forgiven for wondering what he could have done about the delivery which dismissed him.
For a while, when Fakhar Zaman and Sohaib Maqsood were together, it looked as if Pakistan may be able to rebuild. Zaman, putting away anything overpitched or short with panache, looked in glorious touch with Maqsood producing one ferocious cut for six off the distinctly sharp Carse. Together they put on 53 for the fifth wicket.
But when Maqsood was run out, attempting to regain his ground having been sent back by Zaman, Pakistan's hopes of setting a challenging total disappeared with him. Zaman, slicing a drag-down from Matt Parkinson to backward point, soon followed.
Mahmood returned to have Faheem Ashraf, cramped for room, fencing outside off stump, and finished with 4 for 42 from his 10 overs. Those figures, impressive though they are, didn't flatter him at all.
Not for a moment did Pakistan threaten to defend their paltry total. While Shaheen Shah Afridi produced a threatening opening spell, persuading Salt to edge to slip, Dawid Malan and Zak Crawley put on an unbroken stand of 120 for the second wicket to seal a crushing victory.
Malan, in particular, looked in sublime form. He produced a series of sweetly-timed drives and, while his half-century (50 balls, with seven fours) came up with an under-edged reverse-sweep, it was a rare misstep in an impressively assured performance. He is going to prove tough to leave out of any England side.
Crawley was barely less impressive. While he was, on 1, defeated by a perfect Hasan Ali yorker, it came from a free-hit. His half-century was brought up with a gorgeous back-foot force through point, took only 44 balls, and demonstrated once again that he is a talent to be nurtured.
That wasn't a perfect display from England - not quite, anyway. Ali, on 1, was badly missed by Malan at deep midwicket, while a much tougher chance (an under-edge off a slog-sweep) offered by Shadab Khan, on 6, was missed by Simpson behind the stumps. Parkinson was the unfortunate bowler on both occasions with Shadab going on to make 30; one of only two men to reach 20 in the innings
I. Parkinson, at mid-on, also made a bit of a mess of a chance offered by Afridi on 10.
But these are minor quibbles. After a chaotic few days, Ben's Babes produced a performance that may have unnerved some of that first-choice ODI side as much as it did Pakistan.
'Don't be surprised if he repeats the World
Cup performance': Sunil Gavaskar Talks
About ROHIT SHARMA
Rohit, who opened for India in a Test match in England for the first time in the WTC final, had scored a record five centuries – most in a single edition of a World Cup by any batsmen – in the ODI World Cup in England last year. Gavaskar believes there is no reason why the stylish right-hander cannot repeat the feat this time around in red-ball cricket.
"We saw Rohit Sharma score five incredible hundreds in the World Cup in England two years back,” Gavaskar had told PTI.
"The century he got against South Africa was on a tough pitch and cold conditions and he made the adjustments beautifully. Now two years later he is even more experienced so don't be surprised if he repeats that performance in this series too,” he added.
Rohit was one of the few Indian batsmen who looked in control against New Zealand seamers in overcast conditions in the WTC final in Southampton.
The Mumbai batsman was not able to get a big score but his solid technique is sure to give Indian fans confidence ahead of the big-ticket series which is set to mark the beginning of the second cycle of the World Test Championship.
Rohit, however, will have added responsibility because of his opening partner Shubman Gill’s injury. Reports suggest that the young right-hander is in danger of missing the entire five-match series.
BCCI, however, has not made any official statement on Gill’s fitness. If the reports do turn out to be true, Mayank Agarwal will likely start with Rohit in the first Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
India does have KL Rahul in their squad and also Bengal cricketer Abhimanyu Easwaran as a reserve, who can be added to the squad as an opener if needed.
“Management Has Declared KL Rahul As A Middle-Order Choice”, Aakash Chopra Ask Questions To BCCI Selector's
“KL Rahul is also present there but it has been said that he will not open. Team management has already declared that KL Rahul is only a middle-order choice. Why do you suddenly want him to bat in the middle order?”
Former Indian opener also highlighted that all the five-Test centuries scored by KL Rahul in his career have come while batting at the top of the order. Aakash Chopra said:
“I mean this is surprising because he has scored five Test centuries, all came there (at the top of the order) only. I don’t know, I thought he was always a backup opener but apparently, he is not, even in extraordinary circumstances. It’s very interesting.”
KL Rahul has played 36 Test matches for India scoring 1915 runs at an average of 36.82. Notably, he has batted most time as an opener and some of his best knocks have come while opening the innings for India.
Aakash Chopra opens up on the selectors turning down India’s request for extra openers
“When the selectors were asked to send either Prithvi Shaw or Devdutt Padikkal, who are currently in Sri Lanka, they said nothing doing and that they cannot send them. They are here for a reason and you already have replacements.”
Selectors have turned down Ind Management’s request to send 2 backup openers (Prithvi & Padikkal). No replacement will be sent. If Gill is out, Easwaran will be drafted in. Rohit & Mayank start as openers and while Rahul was picked in the middle order, he can open if needed
The 42-year-old supported the decision of selectors not sending Devdutt Padikkal and Prithvi Shaw to England. Aakash Chopra asserted:
“If they are not sending Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal, I think it is also justified because they will play there first and Sri Lanka is still on the red list when you talk about England. A long hard quarantine, getting them ready and you don’t even know whether they can play because Mayank Agarwal and Abhimanyu Easwaran are already there.”
Selectors expressed their desire to have Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal on the England tour but as it looks the BCCI has turned down the offer.
Virat Kohli holds on to his spots in ICC ODI
and T20I rankings, KL Rahul rises in T20s
India captain Virat Kohli held on to his fifth spot while KL Rahul rose to sixth place in T20I rankings released by ICC on Wednesday.
India might not have played white-ball cricket since March this year but had little impact on the rankings of their stars. Captain Virat Kohli held on to his fifth spot while KL Rahul rose to sixth place in T20I rankings released by ICC on Wednesday. The Indian captain was at No.2, behind Pakistan's Babar Azam in the ODI rankings, whereas white-ball vice-captain Rohit Sharma held on to his third spot.
Kohli was the only Indian featuring in both ODI and T20I rankings. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah, on the other hand, was the only Indian featuring in the rankings for the bowlers in limited-overs cricket. The right-arm pacer dropped a spot to sixth place, while Ravindra Jadeja remained in the ninth position in the all-rounders' list in ODI rankings.
In the T20I rankings, South Africa’s Quinton de Kock advanced nine places to 13th after aggregating 255 runs in their five-match series against the West Indies. Aiden Markram is up 23 places to 19th position while George Linde (up 30 places to 43rd) and Lungi Ngidi (up 25 places to 56th) are among the bowlers to gain after their 3-2 win.
Woakes, who grabbed six wickets in two matches including a haul of four for 18 in the first ODI, has advanced four slots in the list led by New Zealand’s Trent Boult with Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz in second place. Woakes’s previous best was the fourth position attained in September last year. He is also up one place to third among all-rounders after overtaking team-mate, Ben Stokes.
England’s 2-0 series win, which helped them to the top of the CWC Super League Standings, also sees England's Test captain Joe Root moved up two places to 13th position with a series-topping aggregate of 147 runs and captain Eoin Morgan inching up from 26th to 25th.
For Sri Lanka, captain Kusal Perera is up to one place to 41st after scoring 82 runs in the series while Dhananjaya de Silva has gained 10 slots to reach 74th position.
Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga are in joint-98th position after advancing 13 and 12 places, respectively.
'KL Rahul might beat Virat Kohli in the race': Aakash Chopra selects India's openers for T20 World Cup
- Aakash Chopra said the choice of India openers for the T20 World Cup will perhaps boil down to a battle between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, in which he said the latter might come out on top.
- Aakash Chopra said the choice of India openers for the T20 World Cup will perhaps boil down to a battle between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, in which he said the latter might come out on top.
Former India opener Aakash Chopra said it might be a toss-up between captain Virat Kohli and the talented KL Rahul for the opener’s spot with Rohit Sharma in the upcoming T20 World Cup which is slated to be played in the UAE and Oman in October-November this year.
While answering a fan’s query on his YouTube channel, Chopra named four options for India’s opening slot, adding that Rohit Sharma is an automatic selection.
“India have a lot of choices. Shikhar Dhawan is one, KL Rahul is the second and then you’ve got Virat Kohli too. And I would like to add Prithvi Shaw. The brand of cricket that he plays is amazing, it’s not necessary that he will score in every match but the day he scores, he will be unstoppable,” Chopra said.
The former opener, however, said it will perhaps boil down to a battle between Kohli and Rahul, in which he said the latter might come out on top.
“In the end, it might just be a toss-up between Rahul and Kohli. Rahul might just win that race because now Pant will come in the middle order so there is no need for Rahul to play that role. Hardik Pandya, Pant and Ravindra Jadeja can handle the middle order duties. So I would play Rahul up the order and Kohli at 3 or maybe the other way around,” Chopra said.
Rahul and Rohit have been India’s preferred openers when both of them have been available for selection in T20Is. In the five-match home series against England, Rohit opened in all matches while Rahul partnered him thrice. Dhawan was ignored after the first match.
The twist in the tale, however, came when captain Kohli decided to open with Rohit in the final T20I and slammed a match-winning 80 off just 52 balls. The fact that Kohli also opens for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, is also set to play a key role in deciding India’s opening pair for the T20 World Cup.
Chopra said, if Dhawan has a good series in Sri Lanka followed by a good IPL then it will be difficult to ignore him.
“If Shikhar Dhawan scores two hundred and three fifties in the Sri Lanka tour then how will you rule him out? He anyway plays well in the IPL, so does Prithvi Shaw. So, it’s an interesting situation, I would call it a sweet headache for Indian selectors,” he said.
Dhawan will lead a young Indian side in three ODIs and three T20Is in Sri Lanka, starting on July 13 as India’s Test regulars including captain Kohli and Rohit are in England preparing for the five-match Test series against the hosts.
5 Indian Players Who Might Retire If Not Selected In The Squad For The T20 World Cup 2021
India will be riding with a lot of hope in the upcoming T20 Worldcup as they have got a strong unit at the moment and the selectors will be looking to cover all the bases. The youngsters will be given a go in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka where the senior men won’t be available and it will be a good time to test the bench.
Also, it could be the end of the road for certain cricketers who haven’t been certainly helped by their age and also their current form. These cricketers have played a vital part in India‘s T20 success in the past and here are 5 Indian players who might retire if not selected in the squad for the T20 World cup.
- The off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has been one of the best spinners India has ever produced and the veteran was an important member of the 2007 T20 Worldcup triumph. The 41-year-old hasn’t had much game practice too and the IPL 2021 wasn’t great for him too.
- Harbhajan has had immense experience in international cricket for a long time and has played 28 T20 internationals picking up 25 wickets at an average of 25.3 and his economy rate of 6.20 is very impressive. However, he is highly unlikely to make it to the T20 World cup 2021 squad which might certainly force him into retirement plans.
4. Robin Uthappa:
- Robin Uthappa was a key player in the World T20 triumph for India in 2007 and he still is a dangerous player in T20 cricket with his ability to clear the ropes easily. His timing is impeccable and is unmatched at times when he is on a song and he keeps reminding of his finesse.
- However, he hasn’t been consistent in the last few years in IPL or domestic cricket and last played for India six years back in 2015. He has played 13 T20 internationals for India scoring 249 runs at an average of 24.9 and at a strike rate of 118. He is unlikely to make it to the T20 World cup squad and should consider retiring after the tournament.
5. Kedar Jadhav:
- Kedar Jadhav was with the Indian limited-overs team until 2019 where he was dropped owing to some poor performances and he continued his poor form into the IPL too with the last two seasons for Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
- The 36-year-old has played 9 T20 internationals for the nation scoring 122 runs at an average of 20.3 and a strike rate of 123.2. He was used in the middle order as a finisher and he could bowl some handy part-time spin too. However, he hasn’t much impact on any team in the last two years and he would certainly consider packing his boots if he isn’t part of the T20 Worldcup 2021.
