BGMI Launch Party Event by Krafton Offers 6 Lakh Prize Pool, Starts July 8
Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has announced its first event in India, which is also Krafton’s first event in the country ever since relaunching PUBG Mobile under a new banner. However, the first event will be a showcase one, which essentially means that every player will not be able to participate in the tournament. The event will take place over two days, i.e. Thursday, July 8 and Friday, July 9, and will feature 18 professional esports teams that will battle it out on the BGMI battle royale playing field. Called BGMI Launch Party, the event goes live tomorrow.
According to teasers of the event, BGMI Launch Party will feature some of the most popular PUBG Mobile teams and players such as Maxtern and Dynamo, among others. The tournament is likely being used by Krafton to establish its sign of intent to support competitive gaming, and help the industry of gaming and gamers in India grow. The BGMI Launch Party event will offer a total prize pool of Rs 6 lakh, which will likely be distributed across winners, runners-up and individual awardees such as tournament and match-wise MVPs (most valuable players), too.
The BGMI Launch Party event also highlights what future tournaments may offer. In its previous form, PUBG Mobile was undoubtedly one of the most popular competitive games in the country, and regularly attracted competitive tournaments including third-party tournaments hosted by various parties and supported by sponsors. The game was credited with helping introduce many mobile gamers to the world of competitive gaming, sponsor backed teams and more, and with BGMI, Krafton will hope to continue on the same vein.
While BGMI has opted for a number of cosmetic changes such as replacing blood with green (or yellow) feathers, and repeated prompts reminding players to take breaks and that the game is a virtual, simulated world, we found the game to be just about as good as what PUBG Mobile was. It has received an equivalent response as well, having just crossed 1 crore downloads in the past few days, too.
Battlegrounds Mobile India (aka BGMI) to Bring Back Official eSports Tournaments in India Soon
Battlegrounds Mobile India was launched earlier this month in India. The PUBG Mobile alternative is available for download on the Google Play Store for Android smartphone users. The app is currently unavailable for download on iOS at the time of writing this. Krafton, the developer of BGMI, is expected to make an announcement on the same in the coming days. Meanwhile, it looks like BGMI will host eSports Tournaments very soon. The official website has a dedicated microsite for eSports tournaments. For the uninitiated, such tournaments let players showcase their gaming skills while giving them a chance to earn cash rewards. Let’s take a look at more details on the Battlegrounds Mobile India eSports tournaments.
Battlegrounds Mobile India to host eSports tournaments
Battlegrounds Mobile India was launched earlier this month. Days after the release, the developers have confirmed hosting eSports tournaments. Krafton’s official BGMI website has a dedicated tab for eSports tournaments. The microsite does not share any details of the first tournament at the moment but states that it is coming soon.
eSports tournaments allow players to showcase their gaming skills at a global level. Krafton typically hosts such tournaments across regions, wherein international players compete against each other to win the title. Players also get cash rewards and other prizes for participating and winning the tournament. In the case of BGMI, Krafton is likely to host a tournament at a national level because BGMI is currently available only for Indian players. PUBG Mobile, on the other hand, is officially banned in India. We can expect more details about the BGMI tournaments in the coming days.
Meanwhile, players can download BGMI from the Google Play Store. They can also transfer their PUBG Mobile data to BGMI before July 9. Krafton will temporarily suspend the data transfer service until further notice. Players can also claim several in-game rewards after downloading the game. Krafton has already rolled out the “India ka Battlegrounds” gift along with 1 million and 5 million total download rewards. Players can also collect the Constable Set, which is a permanent gift for 10 million downloads. iOS users need to wait for a few days to play the game. Krafton is yet to make an official announcement on the BGMI iOS app release date.
